[Yogyakarta] A Place Like Home
5:35 AM
I’ve known RM Demangan for a quite long time. I still
remember the first time I knew about this place was from one of my favorite
influencer on instagram, @lucedaleco, the owner itself. First opened back in 2016
(cmiiw), this restaurant just recently reopen after their big renovation. And
from what I noticed, this place just getting even cuter!
The ambiance of this place was very unique, classic and
homey. Something that I think really resembles Clara a lot. The restaurant filled
with classic wood based furniture. The walls painted in pastel color that
somehow made it feel so comfortable. The lighting of this place make the
restaurant feel warm (in a good way). Simple decorative are placed in every
corner, it make the restaurant even more beautiful. And to freshen it all up,
they put plants all over the place. In conclusion, I really love this place!
From what I read on their menu book, RM Demangan offered a
simple homemade dishes that close to our hearts. A few menu that caught my
heart instantly was their Sayur Lodeh, Nasi Campur and many more. Food that
sounds so simple, yet warms your deepest soul when you eat it. Sadly since my
cousin and I already eat before we came there, we decided to order some coffee
and light snacks to accompany our chat that afternoon. We went with their Kopi Susu Demangan (IDR 18.000) and Pisang Bakar Gula Aren (IDR 15.000).
I’m not a big fan of their coffee, to me it was just okay.
The coffee taste was strong but I personally think there were too much milk
poured to the coffee. But still, it was decent and I would love to grab another
though.
On the other hand, the grilled bananas taste amazing. They
served us with a perfect ripe bananas that made it a little bit chewy, which
was a good thing because I don’t like a mushy bananas. It was also nicely
grilled without leaving any black bits. On top of it, they poured a lot of gula
aren syrup and a handful of crushed peanuts. I love how the syrup wasn’t overly
sweet and mixed with the crushed peanuts, the whole dish taste even better.
Will I be back? Definitely! I always love a place where you
can feel like home that also offers you a great food. A little note though, the
waiter/waitress seems a little bit off that day. They seems don’t have a clue
about the food and a little bit slow to respond the guests. Maybe they just got
staff shortage that day because I remember that I came on a national holiday.
But still I would recommend this place to everyone I know :)
