[Yogyakarta] Healthy Affordable Food

5:21 PM

I’ve heard so much about Viavia from my cousin who currently studying in Yogyakarta. This restaurant is one of her favorite place for a simple food that feels like home. Viavia is a one stop tourist place. It has restaurant, hostel, souvenir shops and even local travel packages. Located in a busy tourist area, Viavia has become one of favorite tourist stop for their healthy and great meals.

I ordered their Sapi Lada Hitam (IDR 45.000), while my cousin ordered the Gulai Nangka (IDR 27.000). Both came with a plate of white rice. When the food came out, I honestly quite surprised. The food was considerably cheap yet the portion was so generous. I was worried it won’t taste so good, turns out I was wrong.

The beef slices was very tender and juicy. Even though I found a few slices that was very hard to chew. Sauce was tasty without the black pepper overpowering everything. A side note though, the capsicum also given in generous amount and I don’t think anyone could ever eat that much capsicum, lol! For the Gulai Nangka, the creaminess of the soup was perfect. It has this strong gulai taste without making your palate full afterwards. In conclusion, both are super duper delicious!

My cousin and I also ordered their Bruschetta Pesto for IDR 25.000. The bruschetta was crispy and nice, and the pesto sauce on top of it was amazing! I was never a big fan of pesto sauce, but this one was an exception to me.

For drinks, my cousin ordered the Orange Juice (IDR 20.000). It was made by order and purely from fresh orange. Even though it was a bit sour, you can always ask for some sugar syrup to the waitress. As for me, a glass of Ice Lime Tea (IDR 14.000) accompany my meal that day. It has this sour and a bit bitter lime taste to it but somehow I’m lovin’ it.

I can say that my visit to Viavia was considerably great. Not only they sold a great food, they also offer more services that can help tourist look around Yogyakarta. Another thing that make them great is they open until late around 11PM in the evening. So next time you got that sudden hungry feeling when in Yogyakarta, do try this place.
